Che is a club for raggae and ethnic music lovers. The club has an atmosphere of comfort and freedom everywhere you turn. The design is very simple but impressive at the same time. Backstage there are big tables by enormous windows, where people like to drink cups of excellent coffee. There are two great things about the coffee in Che: 1) it´s real coffee (not the kind that most cafes offer); 2) coffee in Che is made in a coffee-machine which is designed in a retro style from 1961. A cigar-hall is located on the right-hand side. On the left-hand side you can order a glass of home-made wine, whisky, or a piece of fruit. And, of course, Ernesto "Che" Gevara looks on approvingly from his portraits on the walls.

Leave metro Ploshchad Vosstaniya (exit to Moskovsky station). Walk to the right for a few minutes and you will see a pedestrian crossing. Turn right before it on Goncharnaya (Гончарная) Ulitsa. Walk along the street until it ends. The club is situated on the corner of Goncharnaya and Poltavskaya streets.

Dostoevsky is a cozy club, which is located in a cellar. Live rock´n´roll and blues music is played often and considered the main style of the club. Usually live music is performed on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays after 19:00.

Centralny District M Ligovsky Prospect

Deep Sound replaced another club at the exact same location in March 2004. The club mainly features underground music from jazz to hardcore, which basically means that young bands play there. In the evenings from 18:00 onward, good cult movies are shown. Sometimes DJs and electronic music ensembles will perform all night long. There is not a very wide selection of beverages at the bar - just cheap beer and light snacks.

When you leave the metro Ligovsky Prospect, turn left and walk along the street until you reach the next street that intersects with Ligovsky, take a left. Walk until you reach Chernyahovskovo Street, cross it and then go right. Walk into the archway with the inscription Deep Sound on it. The club is located in the yard of an old bomb shelter.

Dacha is one of the most interesting places in St. Petersburg. The club is open until 6am, and occasionally holds concerts by intriguing groups. Also, you can amuse yourself with table hockey, the international game of all Dacha`s visitors. Sometimes the club holds surprisingly intense table hockey competitions.

The real attraction of Dacha is its unusual visitors, interesting music, and the democratic atmosphere. Plus, the drinks are cheap and there is no cover. However, this club ia very small and cramped, which forces many guests to hang out on street - in summer a minor inconvenience, but uncomfortable in winter.

Open 18:00 until the last customer leaves.

From metro Gostiny Dvor turn left and head along Gostiny Dvor to Dumskaya Ulitsa. Here, turn left again. The club is on the right hand side of the street, about two-thirds of the way down Dumskaya, and is easily identifiable by the throng of people that are at the entry.

Centralny District M Ploshchad Vosstaniya

The club is part of the famous St. Petersburg cultural center, Pushkinskaya 10. Its extremely original design which creates a special, warm atmosphere was put together by a group of young, talanted artists called Rechniki. The interesting painting which you will see when you enter was done by the group AHE. The club features most types of underground music except loud, extreme, or hardcore styles. The club is rather small and can accommodate a maximum of about 100 people, but most of the space is taken up by tables. Concerts begin at 22:00 (except on Mon). At the bar you´ll find drinks, snacks, unique honey beer (medovuha), and tea served in teapots. There is a large screen above the stage which plays music videos and movies. In the summer, there are additional tables outside under an awning. Beloved Russian musicians like E. Fedorov, Dedushki, and others often drop by for special performances.

From metro Ploshchad Vosstaniya walk down Ligovsky Prospect, away from Nevsky, and then go through the archway of building number 53.

Admiralteiskaya District M Ligovsky Prospect

The "fashionable" Griboedov club opened in October of 1996. It´s probably considered fashionable because of the well-known djs who frequently play there, or maybe because the founders of the club were from the the band 2 Samoljota. The club features popular bands (starting at 22:00), djs (coming on at 24:00), who mostly play different types of electronic music. The club also features art and modern photography exhibitions as well as theater performances. There is a little bar with five tables and a large variety of drinks, an area with comfortable pillows to relax on, and a dancefloor with a low ceiling and walls covered with carpets. There is face-control (decent dress required) at the entrance and bicycle parking is also available. Young people with money, bohemians, and foreigners all gather at the club to dance to good music or just sit and socialize at the noisy bar.

From Ligovsky Prospect metro: cross the street and go onto Konstantina Zaslonova (Константина Заслонова) Ulitsa, which diagonally intersects with Ligovsky. Walk along it until you reach Voronezhskaya Ulitsa and turn left. The club is located in an old bomb shelter.

Admiralteisky District M Sennaya Ploshchad, Gostiny Dvor

This club features 60s rock ´n roll, rockabilly and country music, and is busy, noisy and lively. During the day the club operates as a cafe, and it´s also not bad for food at night. Concerts start at 20:00. It´s best to take your seats early, as this is a very popular spot. Not long ago paid tables were introduced. The club´s regulars are a mixed lot, ranging from cowboys, Elvises and bikers. The best rock ´n roll groups, for example the Barbulators, appear here.

From Sennaya Ploshad metro go along Sadovaya (Садовая) Ulitsa until you get to the shopping centre Apraksin Dvor (the long yellow building). Approximately in the middle of the building you´ll see an archway with the sign "Money is Honey". The club is located straight ahead in the back of the yard.

Petrogradsky District M Petrogradskaya, Gorkovskaya

This club is named after the song of the same name by Russian musician A. Khvostenko. The walls are painted, in black and white tones, according to the song´s story. Different types of music are played here, primarily rock. It also features heavy metal groups, and sometimes there are metal festivals lasting all night. The club accommodates about 250 people, and in front of the stage there is plenty of space to dance. There are also long tables and a mini-bar. On the second floor is the cloakroom and a big beer hall with bar. The assortment is not large and the snacks soon run out and there is nothing to do but drink, thus prices are reasonable. In general we don´t recommend staying there long at night - everyone is drunk and the club is really dirty, especially in the toilet. It will ruin your mood. But the evening concerts are not bad, and the sound is decent.

Tickets (80-200R) are available at the entrance. Advance ticket sales with discounts are available at the music store Rock Podval (Nevsky 110 in the courtyard). Sometimes you can buy tickets at Titanic for major concerts.

From metro Gorkovskaya walk to Kamenostrovsky (Каменноостровский) Prospect. Using the pedestrian subway walk, turn left and move up the street until you reach a small, round square. Then, turn right onto Ulitsa Mira, walk along it until you reach Ulitsa Kotovskovo, turn left and go into a dark yard where you´ll see lots of young people milling around the club´s entrance. The total walk will take about 15-20 minutes along the gloomy streets. It may be better to take a taxi.

From metro station "Petrogradskaya": go left along the square and turn onto ul. Lva Tolstovo, walk along this boring street until you reach ul. Bolshaya Monetnaya, which turns into ul. Kotovskovo, go along it and turn right into the yard. See above.

Admiralteisky District M Sadovaya, Sennaya Ploshchad

The musical repertoire of the club ranges far and wide from dance to rock, even nu-metal and gothic music. From the moment of its opening (five years ago), different musical and cultural festivals, which became major events in the clublife of the city, have taken place here. Many different types of musicians play here; bands such as Malchishnik (rap), Yolochniye Igrushki (experimental electronic music) and DJ´s (R´n´B, Drum´n´Bass, Techno) from St. Petersburg and Moscow. You can also listen to modern alternative bands like Psyheya and Stigmata.

From metro Sadovaya exit to Moskovsky Prospect and walk along it for about five minutes until you see the club´s sign. You need to pass through an archway and into the yard to enter the club.

Revolution is one of the largest clubs in St. Petersburg. It is located on the sixth level of Apraksin Dvor. There are two big dance floors and the main musical direction of the club is electronic music. The fashionable youth of the city, famous dancers, and club people make up the majority of Revolution´s patrons. On the second floor you can watch films or clips all night long. But Panorama (a hall with glass walls and a glass roof) is the main reason you would want to visit Revolution.
